This stop, whose name is derived from Greek words êdonê (pleasure) and fônê (voice), is listed only by Wedgwood, who says: A stop invented by Mr. Hope-Jones, and consisting of metallic plates set into vibration by an alternating current of air. The tone resembled that of gongs. No example exists, but a specimen was exhibited at a lecture delivered by Mr. Hope-Jones at Birkenhead. Bibliography Wedgwood[1]: Hedeiaphone.
